Do not use this firepit with those 1 pound portable propane canisters designed for camp-style cooking on a small propane stove.
It’s also not a good idea to use any larger size propane cylinders with the Outland Firebowl.
The cover helps protect it from the elements – including rain and snow.

Where Can I Use The 823 Firepit?
You can use this portable fire pit anywhere as long as it’s not in an enclosed setting. It’s not designed to be used inside of a garage, or any other structure.
That means it may be fine on a covered porch, under an awning, or in an open gazebo (with adequate clearance both above and around, and plenty of air circulation) and it’s not enclosed.
According to the manufacturer, you should make sure that you have a minimum of 80 inches of clearance above the fire pit and 36 inches on all sides.
Obviously, you don’t want the flame to be even remotely close to any combustible surface. Common sense is obviously to be observed here.
It’s only meant to be used on non-combustible floors as well. When not in use, be sure to shut the gas off, just as you would with your outdoor grill.
Where Can I Safely Store My Propane Tank?
Make sure to disconnect the propane tank from the fire pit and leave it outside. Your fire pit can then be stored indoors.
Propane tanks should never be stored inside any building. Keep them outdoors away from kids and in an area with plenty of ventilation.
How Long Will A 20lb Tank Last?
A full 20-pound tank of propane can last anywhere from eight to thirty hours depending on the rate of burn.
Most likely, with a good size flame, you will average somewhere in the middle range of about 12 to 14 hours – from a single tank.
Can I Cook On The Outland 823 Propane Firebowl?

Cooking marshmallows or s’ mores are common practice but these firepits are not designed as bbq-type grills.
The grease from bbq food may destroy the lava rocks and block the gas feed making for an expensive repair.
If you really want to cook food outdoors then we suggest going for a portable grill which would be a much better and safer investment for you.
Does The Firebowl 823 Have Electric Ignition?
There’s no electric ignition on this fire pit, you need to manually start the Outland Firebowl. Some people use a lighter, but it’s much easier to start with a long barbecue starter.
